The event attracted thousands of locals and tourists to watch and cheer.
This year, the boat race has the participation of 11 teams, with more than 260 athletes from residential areas in the ward. The athletes are mainly fishermen with experience at sea, possessing good rowing skills and strong physical strength.
The competition started at 8am, when the tide was high and the river water was favorable for boat racing. With the sound of the opening drum and the enthusiastic cheers from the audience, the teams entered the competition.
The athletes coordinated well, controlling the boat to move quickly on the water. The race became more exciting when some teams had strong breakthroughs in the sprint phase, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere.
Quynh Phuong Ward is a coastal area with a long tradition of seafaring. Currently, the ward has 774 large and small boats serving fishing activities. The boat racing festival is held in early spring to pray for a favorable new year for fishermen, with favorable weather and abundant catches.
According to a representative of the People's Committee of Quynh Phuong Ward, the local government maintains the annual festival with the goal of preserving traditional cultural values, creating a healthy playground for people and contributing to promoting tourism at the beginning of the year.
Besides watching the boat race, many tourists also visit and worship at Con Temple, one of four temples considered sacred in Nghe An region.
