On May 3, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board announced that it had issued an open letter calling on organizations and individuals engaged in tourism business, passenger transportation, aquaculture, sea services and people to join hands in protecting the environment and preserving the bay's landscape.
Accordingly, Nha Trang Bay is a precious natural asset of Khanh Hoa with blue sea scenery, white sand, many beautiful islands and diverse coral ecosystems.
This is also where Vietnam's first marine protected area was formed, and was recognized by the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club in July 2003.
The bay is closely associated with people's lives through seafood exploitation, marine farming, tourism and coastal livelihoods, playing an important role in local socio-economic development.
The Bay Management Board calls for raising awareness of environmental protection, collecting waste in accordance with regulations, maintaining hygiene at wharves, floating restaurants and business areas; building a civilized tourism environment, not soliciting and forcing prices, maintaining the image of a friendly destination.
Organizations and individuals operating in the bay are requested to comply with regulations, not to bring visitors to unlicensed areas, not to illegally exploit marine resources; protect ecosystems, not to infringe on coral and marine life.
At the same time, encourage limiting the use of disposable plastic products, strengthening waste treatment in aquaculture and prioritizing the use of environmentally friendly products.
