On April 5, at the Mau Dien Temple special national relic, the Con Son - Kiep Bac Relic Management Board in coordination with the People's Committee of Mao Dien commune, Hai Phong city organized the Opening Ceremony of the Mau Dien Temple Traditional Festival 2026.
The activity aims to commemorate and express gratitude for the merits of predecessors, and at the same time educate the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source", fostering pride and awareness of preserving national historical and cultural values.
Thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the value of the National Special Relic Area of Giam Pagoda, Xua Temple, Bia Temple and Mao Dien Temple of Literature.
Mr. Le Duy Manh - Deputy Head of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Relic Management Board, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee - said that Mao Dien Temple of Literature is located in Mao Dien commune, Hai Phong city, and has long been a typical cultural and educational center of the Northern Delta region.
Through historical changes, Mao Dien Temple of Literature still preserves the traditional architectural system with many items such as the Temple of Literature gate, the doctoral steles, Thien Quang Tinh, the bell tower - drum pavilion, Dong Vu - Tay Vu, Bai Duong, Hau Cung, Khai Thanh.

This is the second largest Temple of Literature in the country, worshiping Saint Confucius and coordinating the worship of many typical talents such as Chu Van An, Mac Dinh Chi, Pham Su Manh, Tue Tinh, Nguyen Trai, Vu Huu, Nguyen Thi Due...
In recent years, Mao Dien Temple of Literature has promoted its role as a cultural and educational space with many rich activities, attracting a large number of people and tourists. Traditional festivals are maintained annually, with ceremonies of incense offering, worship, and procession solemnly organized, contributing to preserving heritage.
The highlight of the festival is the connection with the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, through activities such as book displays, reading culture exchanges, art performances and folk games. This combination contributes to spreading the spirit of studiousness in the community.

The Mao Dien Temple Festival 2026 takes place from June 4 - 4 (ie February 17 - 19 of the lunar calendar), with traditional rituals such as reporting ceremony, opening ceremony, calligraphy ceremony, offering calligraphy to the Saint; along with many cultural and sports activities such as Cheo singing, folk songs, ancient costume performances, flower displays, calligraphy exchanges, sports competitions and heritage education experience activities.
