Muong Thanh pedestrian street is located in the urban center of Dien Bien Phu ward, Dien Bien province. The pedestrian street is near component relic sites belonging to the National Special Historical Relic Dien Bien Phu Battlefield and on the banks of the Nam Rom River.
This area has a convenient location connecting with: Dien Bien Phu Airport and Muong Thanh field... The pedestrian street is expected to be a new destination, contributing to creating more attractive tourism products.
Previously, in August 2025, Dien Bien Phu Ward People's Committee approved a project to build a food area, pedestrian street and develop the night economy invested by SMART CITY Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company. Up to now, this street has basically completed phase 1 and officially put into operation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the pedestrian street is oriented to become a highlight to attract tourists, forming a unique nighttime cultural, tourism, culinary and entertainment space.
Thereby, contributing to extending the length of stay and increasing tourist spending. Promoting tourism development in a green, smart, and sustainable direction, associated with preserving and promoting heritage values and protecting the ecological environment.
To make Muong Thanh pedestrian street operate effectively, Mr. Lo Van Cuong proposed that Dien Bien Phu ward soon review and issue operating regulations; organize space and landscape imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Dien Bien province.
Along with that, arrange reasonable areas to introduce culinary culture, agricultural products and typical OCOP products of the locality.
