Khanh Hoa will bring Bau Truc pottery to a series of hotels and restaurants

Khanh Hoa strives for 80 - 100% of resorts and hotels in the area to display and introduce Cham Bau Truc pottery products.

On December 21, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that the unit had a Project to manage, protect and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage "Cham people's pottery art" for the period 2025 - 2028 and the following years.

The project's goal is to sustainably preserve heritage, associated with livelihoods and community tourism development.

According to the project, by 2026, the province strives to remove the artistic heritage as pottery of the Cham people from the situation of being at risk of needing urgent protection.

Ms. Truong Thi gatch (80 years old, a pottery village of Bau Truc) shared that the locality's continued interest in pottery is a matter of great concern.

Through the development of the project, Bau Truc villagers were encouraged to preserve the unique culture of the local people.

In the project approved by Khanh Hoa province, the locality also set a goal of completing research, collection, compilation of documents and textbooks; publishing publications for heritage promotion and teaching.

During this period, the province will organize 4 basic to advanced teaching classes for about 140 students; at the same time, 100% of artisans participating in teaching are trained and improved their abilities.

The planning of raw material areas, fuels and pottery locations will also be completed to ensure the sustainability of traditional crafts.

In particular, the province aims to standardize 100% of the traditional techniques and pottery making processes of Cham Bau Truc pottery, from the stage of selecting raw materials, processing, and burning pottery to coloring the product.

This standardization aims to protect folk knowledge and traditional techniques associated with the customs and practices of the Cham community, while limiting the intervention of modern technology to deform traditional production processes.

By 2027, the province will continue to organize 2 teaching classes for about 200 students, focusing on perfecting vocational skills for artisans. Strive for 50% of artisans and pottery workers to be awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, People's Artist.

Along with that, the province will develop product quality standards, register the "Cham Ceramic" trademark, and complete geographical instructions for Bau Truc Cham ceramic products.

The planning of the protection of Bau Truc pottery village cultural space, associated with the community tourism model, is also identified as a key task.

The renovation of infrastructure, planting trees, creating an environmental landscape for craft village spaces are expected to contribute to improving people's lives, attracting tourists and creating momentum for local economic development.

In the period of 2028 - 2030 and the following years, Khanh Hoa aims to recognize the art of pottery making of the Cham people as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The province strives for 80 - 100% of resorts and hotels in the area to display and introduce Bau Truc Cham pottery products; 50 - 70% of restaurants use Bau Truc pottery products in tourism and culinary services.

At the same time, 100% of traditional Cham pottery products are brought back to the daily life, rituals, and festivals of the Cham community.

In terms of economy, the goal is to increase the proportion of traditional crafts and craft villages to 30% by 2028 and 50% by 2030 in the economic structure of Bau Truc pottery village.

After 2030, the pottery industry is expected to create stable jobs for over 1,000 workers, of which 70 - 80% are trained.
