There are challenges
Lam Dong is a land rich in cultural identity with the diversity of 47 ethnic minorities, especially the K'ho, Ma, Churu ethnic groups of the Central Highlands and many other communities. The province also possesses unique cultural and architectural values that are rare in some places.
The province focuses on developing specific tourism products such as eco-tourism, resorts, adventure sports and agricultural tourism. However, these products mainly rely on natural resources, if there is no reasonable strategy, it can affect the sustainability of the environment.
On December 31, 2024, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 11609/KH-UBND to implement the Project on community tourism development, but the implementation process encountered difficulties due to limited awareness of local people about the benefits and importance of this model.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province - said that community tourism needs close coordination between the community, the government and businesses. However, many places still lack coordination and proper organization, leading to ineffective tourist management, poor service and environmental impact.
Eco-tourism, resort, adventure sports and aquaculture models also face difficulties in procedures for converting land use purposes and site clearance. Currently, authorities are making efforts to remove difficulties to direct these models to develop sustainably and naturally friendly.
Develop but must maintain cultural identity
On April 3, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee will organize a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lam Dong - Da Lat Liberation Day (April 3, 1975 - April 3, 2025), towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Along with this event, a series of activities will be organized to attract tourists.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province said that this is an opportunity for the province to tell stories about the past and future, while affirming its efforts to build tourism associated with local cultural identity. In recent years, the province has invested heavily in improving the quality of services, infrastructure and educating the community on protecting cultural values, towards sustainable and different tourism development.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Tran Hong Thai emphasized: "Large resort projects must be built based on the cultural identity and typical architecture of the city. In the coming time, the province will strictly manage architectural works so that Da Lat can maintain its own mark".
At the same time, the province is focusing on adjusting the zoning plan of major urban areas to attract investment, both developing the socio-economy and creating a highlight for local urban areas.
