On August 14, the People's Committee of Cat Hai Special Zone held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City on recognizing Viet Hai Community Tourism Site, and at the same time announced the Green Transformation Plan for the period 2025 - 2030.
This is an important step forward in the journey of sustainable tourism development, associated with preserving and promoting the value of the Cat Ba archipelago World Natural Heritage.
According to the decision, Viet Hai will become the 13th community tourism destination of Hai Phong City. This area includes 2 villages with a total area of 6,485 hectares, with 87 households and 295 people. This place converges unique natural landscapes, fresh ecological environment, and unique cultural identity as an ideal destination for nature lovers, seekers of peace and experience fishing village life in the middle of the sea and islands.
At the event, the People's Committee of Cat Hai Special Zone implemented the Green Transformation Plan for Viet Hai community tourism destination for the period 2025 - 2030, focusing on the following goals: reducing plastic waste, developing renewable energy, applying the eco-tourism model, experiencing and protecting the forest and marine ecosystem of Cat Ba.
Viet Hai was chosen as a green transformation pilot area to replicate the model throughout the island in the coming time.
