On New Year's Day 2025, domestic tourists to Lao Cai reached 52,600 arrivals and international visitors reached 4,000 arrivals.
Sa Pa town is expected to welcome 40,600 visitors, Lao Cai city about 17,200 visitors, Bac Ha district about 2,000 visitors, Bat Xat district 1,000 visitors, Bao Yen district 1,200 visitors. The remaining localities welcome about 500 visitors.
Room occupancy rates at tourist accommodation establishments in the province are around 40-50%. Particularly at Sa Pa national tourist area, room occupancy rates in the 3-5 star hotel segment are around 70%.
Total revenue from tourists during the 2025 New Year holiday will reach VND193 billion, of which total revenue from international visitors will reach VND23 billion.
Localities organize activities to serve tourists and people. Notably, Sa Pa town organizes the New Year Welcoming Program 2025 - 5-year mark, fireworks display to celebrate the New Year, program to welcome the first guests of 2025, art program "Sa Pa - Spring Dance".
Lao Cai City organized an art program to welcome the New Year 2025 with the theme "Spring colors of the border city"; a program to welcome the first tourist group to Lao Cai in 2025 at Lao Cai Station.
Cultural, sports and tourism activities and events are organized in localities with many diverse forms including art programs, exchanges between folk song and dance clubs, exhibition booths, programs to welcome the first tourist groups... contributing to promoting and introducing the beautiful, friendly and hospitable image of Lao Cai to a large number of domestic and international tourists.
