At the press conference in April 2026, held on April 24, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment informed about the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival. With the theme "Dong Thap - Sweet Fruit Region", the festival is expected to take place in 4 days, from August 5 - June 6. 2026. The highlight of the festival is a series of more than 20 activities combining tradition and modernity.

The event space is expected to recreate river culture with the "On the Mekong River" floating market, the "Mekong Flavors" culinary area, the "Fruit Maze" experience space, and display and exhibition areas on the value chain of key fruit industries and local tourism products.
Besides, there are art programs such as water music performances, lights, "Returning to hear the river tell" screenings, art shaping contests from fruits, honoring long-time gardeners, and riverine photo exhibitions.

Notably, the festival also aims to connect trade through seminars on building agricultural product brands, "Specialty Fruit Week" at modern distribution systems and e-commerce platforms, combined with livestream programs to promote and consume.
This is not only a provincial-level event to honor specialty fruits and promote local agricultural products, but is also expected to create a breakthrough in building strong local agricultural product brands, strengthening value chain links and promoting agricultural tourism development to promote domestic consumption and export.

Currently, the Provincial People's Committee is considering choosing a venue between Hung Vuong Square and Lac Hong Park.
