Closing the exciting days from November 16-18, the 7th Then singing and Tinh lute art festival of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups introduced and promoted heritage values and honored this cultural and artistic form.
More than 400 artisans and extras of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups from 14 provinces and cities of Hanoi, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong brought 56 emotional performances.
The highlight of the event was the parade in the center of Hanoi and the art performance at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square with the participation of hundreds of extras. The songs, dances, and Tinh lute ensembles... created a joyful atmosphere, filled with the cultural colors of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups.
The program has contributed to bringing the art form of Then singing and Tinh lute closer to the public, helping the people of the capital and international tourists have the opportunity to learn about Then practices that have been recognized by UNESCO.
Throughout the festival, there were performances that clearly demonstrated the awareness of preserving and promoting the values of the “Then” heritage in the current period. The traditional culture of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups was recreated through ancient and new Then melodies, Tinh lute ensembles, Then dances, etc.
In addition, there is an exhibition space introducing traditional cultural products of the locality; artifacts, images of Then singing, Tinh lute, images of typical artisans, costumes, musical instruments, medicinal herbs, agricultural products, brocade weaving, Tinh lute making, traditional cuisine. Each group has a style, a nuance to see the economic potential of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Tay, Nung, Thai ethnic groups, the cultural characteristics and tourism potential of each locality.
The photo exhibition “Then singing and Tinh lute art heritage” organized by the Department of Ethnic Culture and the thematic exhibition “Then cultural heritage in the life of the Tay, Nung, Thai ethnic groups” organized by the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures, thereby contributing to conveying the message of protecting culture in general and the Then heritage of the Tay, Nung, Thai ethnic groups in particular. Through that, visitors have a deep and multi-dimensional view of the Then heritage in the cultural life of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on the afternoon of November 18, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) assessed that the Festival had created an atmosphere of excitement, solidarity and pride in traditional cultural values for the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups. Thereby, raising awareness, understanding and sense of responsibility to preserve the nation's precious cultural heritage.
At the same time, the event is also a recognition by the Party and State of the efforts of localities, especially artisans - cultural subjects, who have made many efforts in preserving and promoting the fine cultural identities of ethnic groups in the colorful flower garden of 54 ethnic groups.
The festival will be a connecting thread to build solidarity between localities, artisan groups, and mass actors from the provinces. This is an opportunity for the cultural identity of ethnic groups to be spread and experiences to be shared.
At the end of the Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded 20 A prizes, 20 B prizes and 16 C prizes in the Then singing and Tinh lute performance competitions. In the exhibition space competitions; brocade weaving and Tinh lute making demonstrations; culinary exhibitions, for each competition, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 A prizes, 5 B prizes and 2 C prizes and many prizes in different categories.
