Right in the days leading up to the Binh Ngo Tet 2026, artisan Dinh Van Tam officially launched a cast of majestic horse mascots in the border commune of Lao Bao. He is known as the "father" of a series of mascots that caused a social media storm in recent years.
On January 27, the line of horse mascots welcoming Binh Ngo Spring at Lao Bao Lake park (Tam Thuy Lake, Quang Tri province) completed the final stages. This project attracted the curious and admiring eyes of local people.
This year's work is named Bat Ma Truy Phong, inspired by the classic Ma Dao Thanh Cong painting genre. This image symbolizes the spirit of solidarity, prosperity and the desire to win in the new year.
The mascot complex is extremely magnificent in scale with a total length of about 17m and a width of more than 6m. The fighting horse lineup includes 8 horses, each from 2m to 3.5m high, coordinated in harmonious and eye-catching orange, white, brown, and gray colors.
From a distance, visitors can easily admire the majestic beauty of this mascot complex, standing out by the calm lake surface.
What surprises visitors the most is the realistic vibrancy of the mascot lineup. Artisan Dinh Van Tam (born in 1991, Quang Tri) skillfully used foam to create the shape of the horse's mane. When the wind blows through, the foam fibers vibrate rhythmically, creating the feeling that horses are actually galloping.
Present at Tam Thuy Lake early, Mr. Le Hung, a local resident, excitedly shared: "When I witnessed this herd of horses with my own eyes, I was really overwhelmed. The spirit of the horses is very majestic, from their eyes to their muscles are carved in great detail, it feels like they are about to break through and rush forward.
Unlike every year, this year's mascot lineup was ordered and completed early to be ready to welcome the "Border Market" event taking place on January 30-31. This is a major event organized by Lao Bao commune with many cultural and artistic activities, folk games and promotion of border specialties to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
With the work Bat Ma Truy Phong this time, Lao Bao promises to become the focus of attracting tourists from all over the country to check-in.
