The addition of Vietnamese Cultural Day November 24th to the system of holidays is expected to directly impact the annual holiday schedule, in addition to current holidays and Tet.
This policy is stated in Resolution No. 80 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, issued on January 7. The Resolution emphasizes the goal of creating conditions for people to improve their ability to enjoy culture, encourage creative artists, and spread cultural and civilized lifestyles throughout society.
According to the assessment of the Politburo, Vietnamese culture is the crystallization of the good values of the nation through thousands of years of building and defending the country, is an important inborn resource, contributing to nurturing the intelligence, soul, spirit and bravery of Vietnamese people. However, the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people still has limitations and inadequacies, facing many difficulties and challenges in the new context.
In the context of a rapidly changing world, increasing competition for the value and influence of the cultural industry, the requirement is to clearly define the national position in the new world order. The Politburo emphasizes the view that "culture must go first, see the way", deeply ingrained in each development policy, promoting human values and social ethics standards.
The establishment of Vietnamese Culture Day on November 24th is not only symbolic but also considered a foundation for building and developing sustainable culture. From there, contributing to realizing the country's long-term development goals, in parallel with policies on holidays and Tet holiday schedules in the coming years.
With November 24 being identified as Vietnamese Cultural Day and becoming an official holiday, the total number of holidays and Tet in 2026 will increase to 26 days, including official holidays and weekends, interchangeable.
People and tourists can proactively arrange time to participate in cultural, entertainment and tourism activities taking place during this occasion.
It is expected that many localities will organize art performances, cultural festivals, heritage experience spaces, cuisine and creative products associated with regional identity. This is a suitable time for tourists to combine short breaks, visit cultural and historical destinations, or participate in community events.
