According to the plan of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), in 2025, the enterprise will implement three upgrade projects at Vinh airport, including the renovation of runways, terminals and airports, with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND.
Of which, the T1 passenger terminal upgrade project currently has an investment of 68.36 billion VND, aiming to improve the exploitation capacity to 3.3.5 million passengers per year by 2030.
The current railway repair project is 2,400m long, 45m wide, along with two taxiways, brake strips, insurance strips and related items, expected to use a capital of more than 623 billion VND.
In addition, the project to expand and renovate the aircraft parking lot will meet the needs of simultaneous operation of 9 parking locations for code C aircraft (such as Airbus A320, A321 and equivalent), with a total investment of about 236.63 billion VND.
In addition, the Ministry of Construction has recently basically agreed with the proposal from the People's Committee of Nghe An province on studying investment in extending the Vinh airport runway from 2,400m to 3,000m, and at the same time implementing it in parallel with the runway and taxiway repair project implemented by ACV.
Located more than 8km from the center of Vinh City, Vinh Airport is a modern gateway to Nghe An, operating many flights every day, convenient for tourists from Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
During the closure of Vinh airport, tourists from other provinces can travel to Vinh City by train, bus, bus, limousine...
In addition, tourists from the South can go from Tan Son Nhat airport to Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa) and then continue to Vinh, or other tourist destinations such as Cua Lo, Pu Mat National Park...
In addition to Vinh airport, Lien Khuong airport (Lam Dong) is expected to be temporarily closed for 6 months to upgrade from the fourth quarter of 2025. The specific closing time has not been officially announced.
