For many years, Gia Lai has been known as a quiet land in the Central Highlands, possessing pristine beauty and unique cultural depth. However, this potential has not been exploited commensurately. National Tourism Year 2026 is considered an opportunity to transform static resources into vivid products.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the National Tourism Year is an important event of the culture, sports and tourism sector, contributing to the goal of developing tourism into a key economic sector of the country.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, National Tourism Year 2026 is organized in the context that the whole country is focusing on implementing major policies to promote double-digit economic growth, in which tourism is identified as an important sector.
Regarding tourism product development, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized the need to focus on upgrading and renewing typical tourism product groups of Gia Lai such as ecotourism, sea and island tourism, community tourism, golf tourism and sports tourism, in which focus on promoting the advantages of natural resources, cultural heritage and local identity.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich affirmed that hosting the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 is an opportunity for the province to welcome new tourism waves, contributing to raising the level of Gia Lai tourism in particular and promoting local socio-economic development in general.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich said that the series of events in the National Tourism Year held in Gia Lai are all associated with the socio-economic development of the locality such as: Gia Lai Province Investment Promotion Conference; Gia Lai Tourism Economic Development Forum 2026; Conference on signing cooperation agreements with 4 southern provinces of Laos; Conference on signing cooperation agreements with 3 northeastern provinces of Cambodia...
Product restructuring, infrastructure upgrade
One of the important impacts of the National Tourism Year is to promote the process of restructuring the local tourism industry. Instead of spreading out, Gia Lai is oriented to focus on key product groups such as ecotourism, community tourism, agricultural tourism and sports tourism.
New tour routes are being built in the direction of regional linkage, connecting the Central Highlands with the Central coast. This not only expands the tourist space but also helps diversify experiences, creating "one trip - many destinations" journeys.
In fact, on this occasion, Gia Lai has launched a number of products to attract tourism. The latest is the Coffee & Culture Weekend held from Friday to Sunday every week, from now until August 2026. This cultural space is located in the area of Anh Hung Nup street, within Dai Doan Ket Square, Pleiku ward (Gia Lai). This stop contributes to diversifying tourism products, introducing OCOP products, promoting local identity and products and attracting tourists within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2026.
According to leaders of Gia Lai province, the formation of the "Gia Lai Coffee & Culture Weekend" is expected to create more unique cultural and tourism highlights, contributing to attracting tourists, promoting the image of the highland land and promoting the consumption of local typical products.
At the same time, tourism infrastructure is also invested in upgrading, from transportation, accommodation facilities to service systems. To ensure accommodation for tourists in case accommodation facilities are overloaded, the province calls on people to participate in welcoming overnight guests when necessary.
National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 includes 244 events and activities chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, provinces, cities and Gia Lai province.
In the context of increasingly fierce destination competition, the media plays a decisive role in creating an image and attracting tourists. National Tourism Year 2026 is considered a total communication campaign for Gia Lai. This is a launching pad for Gia Lai to improve its visitor reception capacity, especially in the context of the target by 2030 to welcome 18.5 million visitors, including more than 1 million international visitors.
The National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 will officially open at 8:10 PM on March 28th at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, Quy Nhon ward. The opening ceremony is grand, with art programs from traditional to Mega Concert.
