Bright spot from tourism industry
On the afternoon of October 11, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee held a dialogue conference and honored entrepreneurs to celebrate Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day.
According to the assessment, the bright spot in the economic picture of Lam Dong province in the first 9 months of 2024 is the diverse tourism businesses that bring in high revenue.
Reporting at the dialogue, Lam Dong Provincial Tourism Association said the total number of tourists to Lam Dong reached 7.4 million, an increase of 13.7% over the same period in 2023.
Of which, domestic visitors reached 6.9 million, up 12.3%; international visitors reached 426,000, up 42%. Average room occupancy reached 70%, peaking at over 85% during festival and holiday seasons.
According to the Lam Dong Provincial Tourism Association, this locality is one of the attractive tourist destinations in the Central Highlands region, with the development of many types of tourism such as eco-tourism, cultural tourism and high-end resorts.
In 2024, tourism businesses in Lam Dong province will operate in a diverse manner, including 3,178 tourist accommodation establishments with a total of 40,644 rooms.
Currently, Lam Dong has 12 tourist areas, destinations, and attractions. Of these, there is 1 national tourist area, 2 provincial tourist areas, and 15 tourist attractions that have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee to serve the sightseeing and entertainment needs of tourists.
There are currently 82 travel agencies, with 44 international travel agencies and 38 domestic travel agencies.
In 2024, the growth trend of domestic and international tourists has helped promote the strong development of the province's tourism industry, creating many business opportunities for enterprises.
However, businesses are also facing many challenges in terms of competition, shortage of high-quality labor, and impacts from macroeconomic factors.
Notably, the tourism industry has created 35,000 direct jobs, of which 10,000 new jobs were created in the first 9 months of 2024.
Government stands side by side with businesses
Besides many encouraging achievements, the tourism industry also has some difficulties. Small-scale businesses have difficulty accessing capital and modern technology.
In addition, many businesses have difficulty recruiting and retaining high-quality workers, especially workers in the high-end service sector and professional tour guides.
Speaking at the Conference on dialogue and honoring entrepreneurs, Acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thai Hoc affirmed that over the past time, provincial leaders have had many meetings and dialogues with businesses to grasp the thoughts, aspirations and proposals of entrepreneurs and businesses.
Lam Dong province hopes that in leadership, direction and management, it will create a transparent, healthy working environment to facilitate business development.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc added that the province will create all conditions and stand side by side with businesses. To do this, there are certainly many problems and the province will listen in the spirit of speaking frankly, speaking honestly, and doing real things to develop businesses and Lam Dong province.
On this occasion, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 60 enterprises with many achievements in production and business activities, contributing to the local socio-economic development in 2024.
