Khanh Hoa - When many families gather to enjoy spring, tourism workers in Khanh Hoa enter peak working hours, accepting to celebrate Tet late to serve tourists.

Choosing to celebrate Tet away from home to become more mature

Duong Le Gia Huy (24 years old, from Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City), receptionist at Novotel Nha Trang, for the first time decided not to return to his hometown for Tet.

As the only child in the family, but this year Huy registered to work throughout Tet with the desire to accumulate more experience and experience a different Tet.

This Tet holiday, the room occupancy rate at hotels reached 100%, mainly welcoming Chinese and Russian guests... causing the workload to increase.

I miss home a bit, but after work I video call home to wish my family a happy new year. This is a memorable experience in my career journey," Huy shared.

According to a hotel representative, preparations for the 2026 Lunar New Year were deployed early to bring a space imbued with Vietnamese spring colors while still maintaining the modern and international spirit of the brand.

The lobby area and public space are decorated with red and yellow tones as the main color, apricot blossoms and traditional miniatures. The hotel also arranges free Ao Dai experience corners for visitors to take souvenir photos.

During Tet, many activities such as spring lion dances, writing New Year wishes, preparing Tet jam and Tet greeting cards in rooms are organized to help tourists, especially international visitors, experience the Vietnamese Tet atmosphere right at the hotel.

Ms. Truong Ngoc Thuy Anh - General Manager of the hotel said that Tet is the peak tourist season in Nha Trang, so the personnel plan was built early. The reception, room, culinary, and technical departments... are all arranged to work throughout Tet, increasing personnel during peak hours to ensure uninterrupted service quality.

Celebrating Tet late" to increase income

In the Bai Dai area, serving staff of Truong Thi Anh restaurant (from Thanh Hoa) also registered to work from December 28th to the 6th day of Tet. This is the third year she has celebrated Tet late with her family.

According to Ms. Anh, the characteristic of the service industry is that when people rest, employees are even busier. Although she is prioritized for leave because she is far from home, she still chooses to stay and accompany colleagues during peak season.

After the peak season, I will go home to reunite with my family. Staying to work during this time also helps increase income and avoid traffic pressure during Tet," she said.

According to a report by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, during the 4 days of Lunar New Year holiday 2026 (from December 28th to the 2nd day of Tet), the whole province welcomed about 513,000 visitors, an increase of about 10% compared to the same period last year.

Many hotels and resorts in Nha Trang, Cam Ranh and Cam Lam recorded a full room situation during peak days.

Besides resort tourism, historical and scenic spots continue to attract a large number of tourists. Among them, Ba Po Nagar Tower welcomed 22,711 visitors, and Po Klong Garai Tower welcomed 2,525 visitors.
