On March 22, Nha Trang Ward People's Committee said that it is inviting tourism establishments, businesses and residential communities in the area to review and propose typical tourism models with sustainable development potential to participate in the "Best Tourism Village" Award 2026 organized by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).
The award aims to honor typical villages in terms of natural resources and culture; with innovative activities and commitments to develop tourism associated with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to Nha Trang Ward People's Committee, the participants are rural villages and tourist destinations with low population density, with a maximum of 15,000 residents; located in areas with landscapes associated with traditional activities such as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry or fishing. At the same time, the models must meet the criteria of preserving and sharing community values and a unique lifestyle.
The registration dossier is evaluated by the Independent Advisory Board of UN Tourism according to 9 criteria, including: cultural and natural resources; preservation and promotion of cultural values; sustainable socio-economic and environmental development; building and linking tourism value chains; management, tourism development orientation; infrastructure, connectivity; ensuring health, safety and security.
To be considered, businesses, units, and residential communities with proposed models need to coordinate with local authorities to complete dossiers in English according to UN Tourism's form.
Dossier includes: application form, summary presentation (General Presentation) accompanied by illustrative images and documents proving population, boundary map, conservation commitment.
The deadline for submitting dossiers to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is before May 10, 2026. On that basis, the Department will select typical models and report to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
Each country is nominated for a maximum of 8 villages to participate in the award; The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism will represent and submit official applications to the UN Tourism online system.
Nha Trang Ward People's Committee calls on organizations, businesses and residential communities with community tourism and ecotourism models to actively participate. Thereby, contributing to promoting the image and promoting the unique cultural and natural values of the locality.
