On December 30, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association - said that he had sent a document to Nha Trang City People's Committee reporting on the situation of soliciting and illegally collecting fees from tourists at public beaches.
Previously, the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association received information from the Khanh Hoa Tourist Guide Association reflecting on some individuals soliciting and illegally collecting fees from tourists.
When tourists were walking along the beach on Tran Phu Street, they were followed by some people who were collecting money. These people claimed that the beach area was under their management and demanded a fee of 200,000 VND/person.
Some tourists reacted and asked why there was a fee for walking on the beach. When the tourists refused to pay, a group of thugs surrounded them and followed them for nearly 1km.
Some tourists recorded images of people demanding beach fees. These images were also sent to tour guides and shared on Chinese social media.
Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association assessed that the behavior of the above group of subjects showed signs of violating the law, creating a bad image for Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism, affecting the insecurity and safety of international tourists.
In particular, these images and information have spread on social networking sites in China and will affect the number of tourists coming to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa in the near future.
Since then, the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association has requested Nha Trang City authorities to increase patrols, control and take measures to prevent the above situation.
