In the first two days of the holiday, the number of tourists crossing Dong Bai ferry to Cat Ba island increased many times compared to normal days. The line of cars crossing the ferry is kilometers long. However, according to records, moving across the ferry is faster and more convenient. Passengers only have to wait about 1 hour to board the ferry.
Ms. Nguyen Huyen Trang (An Bien ward, Hai Phong) said: At 7 am this morning, her family moved by personal vehicle through Dong Bai ferry to Cat Ba to play and relax during the holidays.
At 7:30 am, my family arrived at the ferry terminal, and at 8:35 am, we got on the ferry to the island. Compared to previous years, this year the waiting time is shorter, many ferries dock at the same time to take passengers to the island" - Ms. Trang shared.
Previously, to ensure traffic order and safety, and limit traffic congestion in the Dong Bai ferry terminal access road area (Cat Hai special zone), the Department of Construction temporarily stopped receiving specialized vehicles carrying cars and trucks through Dong Bai ferry (in the direction to Cat Ba island) from April 25 to May 3 and weekends from May 9 to September 30. The temporary suspension time is from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. During the temporary suspension time, tourists can go to Cat Ba island by cable car, high-speed train and bus.

On April 26, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Dong Bai - Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal said that the number of passengers in 2 days was relatively high, but there was no prolonged congestion, passengers complained that they had to wait 3-4 hours like in previous years. At peak times of the day, passengers only had to wait 60-75 minutes to get on the ferry to the island.
The unit mobilizes maximum manpower, vehicles, and flexible ferry running time to serve tourists quickly, conveniently, and safely. Along with the new ferry terminal being upgraded, renovated, and expanded, it has helped improve the operating capacity of the ferry terminal, overcoming the traffic congestion situation" - Mr. Vu Manh Ha - Head of Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry terminal said.
