On October 24, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 17th An Giang Provincial Khmer Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025, and his delegation inspected the organization of the Festival in Go Quao commune.
This year's festival takes place in Go Quao commune for 3 days, from November 4 to 6 (September 15 to 17, lunar calendar) on the occasion of the Ok Om Bok festival of the Khmer people. The festival is organized at the provincial level, expected to attract about 200,000 - 250,000 people from inside and outside the province to attend.
The opening ceremony of the Ngo boat festival and competition will take place at 7:30 a.m. on November 5.
The festival will feature many exciting activities such as: Exhibition of Khmer images and artifacts, theme " Colors of Khmer cultural heritage in An Giang province"; exhibition, display to introduce books; trade fair and introduce local products; contest to make beautiful water-land waterfall trays; An Giang province's "Kmer traditional art" festival in 2025...
In addition, the festival also organizes sports competitions such as the Ngo boat racing, Taekwondo tournament; football and volleyball tournament. In the Ngo boat race alone, there are currently 55 teams registered to compete in each distance.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho emphasized that the organization of the Festival aims to maintain the traditional festival of the Khmer people. Thereby, promoting good cultural values, demonstrating the concern and care of the Party, State, and local government committees for the Khmer ethnic people, and strengthening the great solidarity bloc.
Through activities, the Festival aims to honor, promote and introduce the cultural values of the Khmer people and other ethnic groups in the locality to people across the country. This is also an opportunity to promote the image and people of An Giang, which are gentle, hospitable, integrated, and promote the development of tourism trade...
This is the first year of organizing the Festival after the merger into the new An Giang province, so it needs to be organized thoughtfully and stably, creating solidarity and cohesion among ethnic groups; contributing to economic development, caring for material and spiritual life, educating patriotism traditions, and strengthening the great national unity bloc, said Mr. Ho.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho suggested that members of the Steering Committee, the Organizing Committee and departments, branches and localities continue to coordinate and promote the role of each level and branch, closely follow the plan to meet the set requirements, promote the spirit of solidarity so that the Festival can take place safely, tightly and thoughtfully.
