According to the latest storm news from the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), super typhoon Sinlaku is currently located about 126 km southeast of Saipan Island (North Mariana Islands, USA).
The storm has moved northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h in the past 6 hours.
The highest recorded sea waves are about 12.8 m - a very dangerous level for maritime activities and coastal tourism.
According to forecasts, the storm will continue to move in a north-northwest direction due to the impact of the sub-equatorial high pressure in the southeast, and will approach Saipan and Tinian closest at around 12:00 PM on April 14th, local time (i.e., around 7:00 PM on the same day Vietnam time).
The Guam International Airport Authority said the airport is still open, but a series of flights were canceled from April 12 to 15.

According to statistics from the airport's updated flight schedule, on April 14 and April 15, 2026, a total of 28 flights to and from Guam were canceled due to the storm's impact.
Specifically, on April 14, 16 flights were canceled (9 arrivals and 7 departures). On the arrival afternoon, United Airlines canceled 6 flights from Tokyo (Narita), Osaka Kansai, Nagoya (Japan); Honolulu (USA) and Chuuk Island (Federation of Micronesia).
Korean Air canceled 2 flights from Seoul (Incheon).
In the outbound direction, United Airlines continues to cancel 6 flights to Tokyo (Narita), Koror, Manila, Haneda; Meanwhile, Korean Air canceled one flight to Seoul (Incheon); Star Marianas Air canceled a flight to Rota island.
On April 15, 12 more flights were canceled (6 arrivals and 6 departures). On the arrival afternoon, United Airlines canceled 3 flights from Manila, Haneda, Koror; Philippine Airlines canceled 2 flights from Cebu and Manila; Korean Air canceled 1 flight from Seoul (Incheon).
In the outbound direction, United Airlines canceled 3 flights to Chuuk, Manila and Haneda; Philippine Airlines canceled 2 flights to Cebu and Manila; Korean Air canceled 1 flight to Seoul (Incheon).
The affected routes mainly connect Guam with major regional destinations such as Tokyo (Narita), Seoul (Incheon), Manila, Honolulu, and neighboring islands such as Chuuk, Koror, Yap and Rota.
Currently, local authorities are preparing to cope with worsening weather conditions, officials are calling on people and tourists to monitor warnings as super typhoon Sinlaku approaches the islands.
