On April 2nd, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province said that at the National Intangible Cultural and Historical Relic of Chin Gian Temple (Que Phong commune, Nghe An), the traditional festival opened with many solemn rituals, creating a bustling atmosphere in the early days of April.
Chin Gian Temple was built from the late 14th century, located on the top of Pu Cho Nhang (also known as Ten Pom). The relic is associated with the migration journey and formation of the Muong villages of the Thai people in western Nghe An. This place worships Then Pha (Heaven), Nang Xi Da (daughter of heaven) and those who contributed to opening villages and establishing Muong villages such as Tao Lo Y, Cam Lu, Cam Lan.

The Chin Gian Temple Festival 2026 takes place from March 1 - 4 (ie, February 14 - 16 of the lunar calendar). This year, the festival focuses on the ritual part with traditional rituals: khai quang ceremony, yết cáo, buffalo bathing, buffalo donation, worshiping gods and đại tế. Although the festival part is not organized widely, folk games such as tug-of-war, crossbow shooting, stick pushing, stilt walking, con throwing are still maintained, creating a jubilant atmosphere, connecting the community.
Traditional cultural space with stilt houses symbolizing the Thai Muongs (Que Phong, Muong Quang, Thong Thu, Tien Phong) is a special highlight of this year's festival. Here, visitors are welcomed with traditional dishes, admire national costumes and learn about typical handicrafts.
The Chin Gian Temple Festival is not only an occasion to commemorate the ancestors who founded the village, but also contributes to preserving and promoting the unique cultural identity of the Thai people in western Nghe An, attracting tourists from near and far.
