In May 2025 alone, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 1.53 million, an increase of 10.5%, according to the Statistics Office.
Of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, 85.2% travel by air; 12.9% by road and 1.9% by sea.
The Chinese market still maintained the No. 1 position with 2.36 million visits (accounting for 25.7%), followed by South Korea with over 1.9 million visits (accounting for 20.7%).
The top 10 international tourist markets include Taiwan (China), the US, Japan, Cambodia, India, Australia, Malaysia and Russia.
Some markets near Southeast Asia grew rapidly, including the Philippines (+104.3%), Cambodia (+64.8%), Laos (+39.8%); while the remaining markets increased slightly: Indonesia (+11.6%), Thailand (+4.1%), Malaysia (+2.9%), Singapore (2.6%).
Markets that are entitled to unilateral visa exemption policies have maintained growth in the first 5 months of the year such as the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
In addition, markets are exempted from short-term visas. The 2025 tourism development stimulus program also recorded an increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period in 2024: Poland increased by 44.5%, Switzerland increased by 10.7%.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the tourism industry is focusing on implementing campaigns to promote and advertise Vietnam's tourism. In May 2025, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism organized a program to introduce Vietnam tourism in 3 European countries: France, Italy, Switzerland, and promoted Vietnamese tourism - cinema at the Cannes Film Festival, France.
According to the plan in June 2025, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will continue to organize a program to introduce Vietnam tourism to 3 European countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
