Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan affirmed that medical tourism is an inevitable trend in the era of globalization, when the demand for high-quality health care associated with resorts and tourism is increasing.

Vietnam has all the conditions to strongly develop the medical tourism sector: The medical system is increasingly modern, the team of doctors is highly qualified, many advanced medical techniques such as organ transplantation, fetal intervention, cardiovascular surgery... have approached international standards - Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized.
In addition, the rich traditional medicine background, reasonable treatment costs, beautiful nature, unique culture and friendly people are unique competitive advantages, helping Vietnam's medical tourism create a different mark.
To realize the potential, the Ministry of Health has coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop a Project to develop high-quality medical tourism and medical examination and treatment services for the period 2025-2030, aiming to make Vietnam a leading health care center in the region.
Some of the goals set are to improve the quality of medical services according to international standards; develop modern medical examination and treatment facilities capable of receiving and serving domestic and foreign tourists.
Each locality needs to develop specific medical tourism products, associated with its own strengths such as elderly care resorts, traditional medicine therapy, rehabilitation, combined with eco-tourism and culture.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing difficulties and challenges in developing medical tourism, and giving comments on the Project.
In the context of globalization and extensive international integration, medical tourism has become a strong development trend in many countries. This is an area that harmoniously combines high-quality medical services and diverse tourism services, not only bringing economic benefits but also affirming the prestige and position of the country on the world map of tourism and healthcare.
