Pa Then ethnic people in Tuyen Quang province organize fire dance festival to thank heaven and earth.
Every year, on the 26th day of the 11th lunar month, the Pa Then ethnic group in Phuc Son commune (now Minh Quang commune, Tuyen Quang province) organizes the fire jumping festival. These are the people here who thank heaven and earth, and the gods for bringing a bumper crop. Through the festival, it is also a prayer for a new year of good health and prosperity.
In particular, in 2026, after merging Phuc Son, Minh Quang, Hong Quang communes into Minh Quang commune, the fire dancing festival will be held in the spring. After the opening ceremony and music performances, the fire dancing festival that people here are most looking forward to took place on the evening of February 28 (ie, the 12th day of the first lunar month of Binh Ngo year).
The fire dancers and shaman will perform incense offering ceremonies, praying for blessings from mountain gods, river gods, fire gods... The end of the ceremony is also when the fire dancers begin their performance in front of thousands of witnesses.
