Traditionally, the parade begins with the rice-raising ceremony of the Russian Federation flag and the Victory flag.
The parade includes parade groups representing Suvorov and Nakhimov military academies, young soldiers, female soldiers and representatives of combat units carrying military flags and specialized weapons.

This year's parade was attended by more than 10,000 people. In particular, at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, this is the first time the Vietnam People's Army has participated in an international parade in Russia.
The Vietnamese team consists of 86 soldiers who are officers, students, and professional soldiers of the 1st Army Officer School and a number of other units. Before the official event, the group attended a rehearsal and preview on April 29 and 03.05.
Visitors can watch the forces participating in the parade starting from Nizhnie Mnevniki Street, continuing along Zvenigorodskoe Expressway to Barrikadnaya Station, through Triumfalnaya Square and Tverskaya Street, then entering Manezhnaya Square before arriving at Red Square.
During the event, some areas around the Kremlin and metro stations near Red Square will be temporarily restricted. Some streets are also regulated for traffic to serve security work and organize parades. Tourists need to pay attention to adjust their schedules when traveling to Moscow during the parade.
