On October 20, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien - Vice Chairman of Bien Ho Commune People's Committee - said that Nhing village landfill has been hired by the commune to collect and treat waste, bring vehicles to clean up and destroy it in the right place.
For many years, Bien Ho commune (belonging to the old Pleiku city area) has been organized by Gia Lai Urban Construction Joint Stock Company to collect waste and clean the environment, in accordance with regulations.
After July 1, 2025, when implementing the two-level local government model, Bien Ho commune merged Nghia Hung, Tan Son, Ha Bau communes (old), causing the amount of waste to increase and many spontaneous landfills appeared in the suburbs.

"The new Bien Ho commune does not have enough funding to hire a unit to collect and thoroughly treat waste. In 2026, when new capital is allocated, the commune will re-sign a service contract with a garbage collection and treatment unit in Gia Lai to ensure long-term environmental sanitation, said Mr. Hien.
Referring to spontaneous landfills along the pine hill, Mr. Krung Dam Doan - Chairman of Ia Hrung Commune People's Committee - said that on the same morning, commune officials went to the scene to handle and hire service groups to collect and transport garbage out of the pine forest area to avoid causing environmental pollution and affecting tourism images.
According to Mr. Doan, after implementing the two-level government model, due to limited funding, the commune has not been able to organize thorough waste collection and treatment. In addition, in the suburbs of the center of Pleiku urban area, the commune has not signed a service contract with Gia Lai Urban Construction Joint Stock Company to collect garbage.

In the long term, Ia Hrung commune will install surveillance cameras in the pine hill area, increase propaganda and administratively punish people who litter and do not belong to the right place.
The commune government also hopes that the Ia Hrung pine hill residential and eco-tourism project will be implemented soon to make the management of this tourist destination more effective.
Previously, Lao Dong reported that the pine forest of Ia Hrung commune and the forestry area around the scenic Lake are places that tourists often visit. However, in recent times, people and tourists have been upset about the situation of waste causing environmental pollution.
In the pine forest of Ia Hrung commune, which is planned and preserved as an eco-tourism destination, household waste, plastic packaging and pests andwestcome plants give off a foul smell and piles of waste all over the road.
Along the pine forest road, there are 3-4 garbage collection points but they are not collected and treated promptly, causing a strong stench.
