One year after "Our Movie", Nam Goong Min returns to the small screen with the psychological thriller "The Husband" of KBS2.
The film tells the story of doctor Kang Tae Joo (Nam Goong Min), who is caught up in a life-and-death chase after his wife, Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol), is kidnapped right before they both prepare to divorce. Facing him is cold-blooded criminal Noh Man Hee (Kim Dae Myung).
At the premiere press conference, the actor did not hide his regret when mentioning "Our Movie" - the movie he starred in before with a rating of about 4%. "I still thought it was a good movie, but in the end I realized it could not reach a large audience as I expected.
That experience changed his criteria for choosing the next project. "I want to participate in a movie that many people can follow comfortably. 'Comfortable' does not mean simple, but a story that is attractive enough for viewers not to take their eyes off it. I believe'The Husband' has that, so I decided to accept.
The actor also said that he always believes in the first feeling when reading the script. "From the first reading, I had a very strong intuition. I read it in a row from episode 1 to episode 4 because the script was too attractive and different. I believe audiences of all ages will find the film interesting.
Nam Goong Min expressed confidence in the new project when affirming that the crew has put all their heart into the work.
However, "The Husband" will have to compete directly with SBS's "Agent Kim Reboot" starring So Ji Sub - a work that is creating a strong effect on Korean screens after quickly surpassing the 15% rating mark after only two episodes.
However, Nam Goong Min said he does not see this as pressure. "I really like'Aggent Kim Reboot'. In the context of the TV drama market facing many difficulties, I am always happy to see a movie achieve good results, even when it is a competitor.
The actor only regretted that the two films aired at the same time slot. "The only regret is that our film aired right when'Agente Kim Reboots' was at its most exciting stage, while'The Husband' was just starting to build the story.
According to Nam Goong Min, the two works have completely different colors. "Aggent Kim Reboot" has a more entertaining and imaginative color. Meanwhile, "The Husband" exploits a close reality, focusing on human psychology and emotions. The actor believes his film has a very unique attraction.
The Husband" is scheduled to air from July 4.
