This morning (May 23), thousands of candidates came to participate in the 10th grade entrance exam at the High School for Gifted Students, University of Natural Sciences and the High School for Gifted Students, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, both under Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Minh Ha - a student of Nguyen Du Secondary School, Dai Mo ward, Hanoi - registered to take the first wish exam for the specialized Chemistry class and the second wish exam for the specialized Biology class, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences.


To prepare for the exam, Minh Ha was instructed by her teacher to review some types of questions. She also spent time at home, trying out some mock exam questions from the school.
In addition to the 10th grade entrance exam to the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Minh Ha will take the exam to specialized schools under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (GDĐT). Therefore, she tries to keep her mind calm.
However, when I arrived at the exam site, I was quite nervous because I saw too many candidates participating" - Minh Ha said.

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Thuy (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi) - a parent whose child is taking the 10th grade entrance exam at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities - shared that although she determined that her child's specialized exam was a test, the heat of the exam scores made her quite nervous.
When my child enters the exam room, parents outside feel very anxious. I will stay here waiting for my child to leave, encouraging my child's spirit" - Ms. Thuy said.
In 2026, the High School for Gifted Students in Science enrolls 545 enrollment quotas out of a total of 3,972 applications registered for the exam.
Candidates take 3 common exam subjects: Literature, Mathematics (round 1) and English. Candidates also take specialized subjects according to registered blocks, including: Mathematics (round 2) for specialized Mathematics and Informatics; Informatics for specialized Informatics; Natural Sciences (part of knowledge, skills) corresponding to specialized Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
In which, the specialized Math block has the largest number of registrations with 1,060 applications. Second place is the specialized Chemistry block with 803 applications. Followed by the specialized Physics class with 785 applications, specialized Informatics with 752 applications; specialized Biology 572 applications.
Regarding the competition ratio, the Math specialized block has the highest competition ratio of 1/9.7. Followed by the Chemistry specialized block with a competition ratio of 1/7.4; Physics specialized with a competition ratio of 1/7.2; Informatics specialized 1/6.9; Biology specialized 1/5.2. All candidates must take 3 common exam subjects: Literature, Mathematics (round 1) and English.
And at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities, the total enrollment quota this year is 150 quotas, of which the Literature specialized block has 90 quotas, each History and Geography specialized block enrolls 30 students.
Candidates must take all 3 common subjects (Literature, Mathematics, English) and specialized subjects (Literature, History, Geography), without being suspended from the exam. The score of each common exam subject (Literature, Mathematics, English) must be 2 or higher, the score of specialized subject (Literature, History, Geography) must be 6 or higher.
