On August 18, according to PV's investigation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Ministry) has just announced the results of selecting organizations and individuals to consider issuing mineral exploration licenses in areas where mineral exploitation rights are not auctioned in Lai Chau province.
Accordingly, on July 24, 2026, the Ministry received a dossier requesting a mineral exploration license from Bao Lam Mineral Investment Joint Stock Company.
Through review and appraisal, the Vietnam Geological and Mineral Resources Administration determined that this is the only unit to submit a dossier requesting gold ore exploration in the Nam Khao 1 area, Muong Te commune, Lai Chau province.
Based on Decree 193/2025/ND-CP, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment selected this enterprise to consider issuing exploration licenses in the above area.
However, being selected does not necessarily mean that the business has been licensed.
Because gold belongs to the List of strategic and important minerals of Vietnam in the period 2025-2030, with a vision to 2045, businesses must continue to complete dossiers according to regulations.
The Ministry requests Bao Lam Mineral Investment Joint Stock Company to supplement complete documents, and at the same time report on the mineral operation situation, compliance with the law on geology and minerals; the situation of violations, handling of violations (if any) in the last 5 years, accompanied by proof documents.
After completion, the dossier will continue to be considered and resolved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment according to regulations.
