On December 3, information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kon Tum province said that by the end of September 2024, the area of Ngoc Linh ginseng had reached 2,445.53/4,500 hectares, reaching 54.34% of the target of Resolution No. 14-NQ/TU dated May 19, 2022 of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee.
It is estimated that by the end of 2024, 578 hectares will be newly planted, reaching 115.6% of the plan, increasing the area of Ngoc Linh ginseng to 3,000 hectares.
It is expected that by the end of 2025, people and businesses in Kon Tum will be able to plant a total area of 4,500 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng, achieving 100% of the target set out in the Resolution.
The entire Kon Tum province currently has 3 key localities for medicinal plant development: Tu Mo Rong, Dak Glei and Kon Plong. Up to now, in these 3 localities, 8,338 hectares of medicinal plants have been developed, mainly Ngoc Linh ginseng and Codonopsis pilosula.
Of which, Tu Mo Rong has the largest area with nearly 3,959 hectares, followed by Dak Glei with nearly 2,700 hectares and Kon Plong with nearly 1,679 hectares. Thereby, gradually realizing the goal of making Kon Tum province a national key medicinal herb region.

In recent times, districts have been focusing resources and solutions to support people with seedlings, techniques, land allocation, and forest allocation so that people have favorable conditions to develop medicinal herbs.
Kon Tum also organizes Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival associated with OCOP products and tourism. Through that, Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival promotes the potential image of ginseng and precious medicinal herbs, promotes socio-economic development, and attracts tourists.
Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee requires functional agencies to strictly manage varieties, planting techniques, care, harvesting, preservation, processing and consumption of Kon Tum Ngoc Linh ginseng.
