The trading session on May 13, 2025 recorded a strong breakthrough in the Vietnamese stock market, with the VN-Index increasing by 10.17 points (+0.79%) to 1,293.43 points.
According to Mr. Dinh Quang Hinh - Head of Macro and Market Strategy, VNDIRECT Securities Joint Stock Company - the investor's optimism is driven by the fact that the KRX trading system has officially been successfully put into operation since May 5. In addition, cooling signals of tariff tensions also contributed to supporting the market.
Another factor supporting the market is the breakthrough of the Vin group of stocks.
VPL shares (Vinpearl) on the first day listed on the HOSE. VPL ceilinged to VND 85,500/share, contributing more than 7 points to the increase of VN-Index, becoming one of the largest-cap stocks on the exchange in the floor opening session. Bank stocks also recorded positive growth, helping to support the index.
Assessing the short -term prospect, Mr. Dinh Quang Hinh said that the pressure to take profit will increase in the next week when most active support factors have been reflected in the stock price. Besides the current bumper area, the index also has an important psychological barrier at 1,300 points. In the scenario, there is no strong support information, such as a significant progress in trade negotiations between the US and Vietnam, the possibility of VN-Index soon surpassing these resistance thresholds is not high.
The market needs a break to absorb the amount of low-priced goods after a period of strong increase. In the context of stagnating accumulation or slight adjustment, cash flow can move between industry groups, said Mr. Hinh.
Accordingly, short-term investors should consider taking profits from a part of their portfolio that has increased sharply, while seeking opportunities in stocks that have not recovered significantly such as industrial park real estate, oil and gas, and seafood.
Stocks with positive supporting information such as the electricity industry group (from the policy of increasing retail electricity prices) can also be the destination of cash flow. Mr. Hinh also recommended that investors should maintain a moderate share of stocks and limit the use of leverage during the market challenging strong resistance zone.
