The "Connecting ASEAN" collection attracts attention with a series of ao dai designs recreating the image of the national flag, cultural symbols and typical landmarks of each country. Each design is meticulously processed, combining traditional form and modern expression, creating a harmonious overall but still retaining its unique features.
According to designer Viet Hung, the idea of the collection originated from the process of learning and experiencing culture in many countries. "I want to bring the image of ASEAN countries into the Vietnamese ao dai to create a close connection, helping fashion become a cultural bridge," he shared.

Previously, this designer attracted attention with the "Chau Ro Cau Mua" design - an outfit imbued with national cultural imprints. The design by him and Pham Thi Ngoc Trang was performed by Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan at Miss Intercontinental 2025 and won the Best National Costume award. After that, the beauty performed again, attracting attention.
Chau Ro Cau Mua" is inspired by the life of the Chau Ro people, using three main colors: black symbolizing mother earth, red representing fire and white as light. The design is made using handcrafted crocheting techniques from recycled yarn, sending a message about the perseverance of artisans and the spirit of connection with nature.

Compared to "Chau Ro Cau Mua" which is deeply indigenous, "Connecting ASEAN" expands the creative space to the region, towards cultural diversity. However, both have in common that they exploit cultural depth to create value for fashion, instead of just stopping at the performance factor.
The new collection has the participation of many models and beauties, contributing to expressing a youthful and dynamic spirit. Through this, the designer wants to bring Ao Dai closer to the public, especially the young generation in the context of integration.
With nearly 30 years of pursuing Ao Dai, Nguyen Viet Hung continues to show efforts to refresh traditional costumes by telling cultural stories through each design, from national identity to regional connection.
