Leaving Man United last summer for 40 million pounds, Alejandro Garnacho was once considered one of the brightest talents who grew up from Old Trafford. However, the journey of the Argentine player at this club ended in much controversy.
Just one year before leaving, Garnacho also scored in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, along with Kobbie Mainoo bringing titles to the team. But things quickly changed when Ruben Amorim replaced coach Erik ten Hag at the end of 2024.
Under Amorim, Garnacho no longer held a regular position, especially when he was not suitable for the 3-4-3 system. The 21-year-old was even dropped from the squad in important matches, including the derby and the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
Recently, the Chelsea star shared about his last moments at Man United: "I remember in the last six months, I no longer played as well as before at Man United.
I started sitting on the bench, that's not bad, I'm only 20 years old. But in my head, I keep thinking I have to play in every match. In my mind, perhaps part of the fault is also mine, I've started doing some bad things.
Garnacho also emphasized that leaving Man United was a major but necessary turning point in his career. He did not show remorse for coming to Chelsea: "But yes, it's just a moment in life and sometimes you have to make a decision. I'm really proud to be here and still play in the Premier League for a club like this.
Everyone knows the squad we have and what we can do. Sometimes, we have better moments or worse moments, I'm proud to be here.
Despite leaving in a context of much controversy, Garnacho affirmed that he does not maintain any negativity towards his old team: "With United, I have nothing to say bad about the club, about anyone in the club or my teammates. It's just a moment in life that changes and life continues. I don't regret it at all.
