On June 28, the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Zone, Quang Ngai province coordinated with accompanying units to organize the "Following the Footprints of the Forward" Cross-country Race - Ly Son Half Marathon 2026.
The cross-country race attracted nearly 1,800 professional and amateur athletes to compete in the 21km, 10km and 5km distances.
From early morning, the athletes were fully present at the starting area, ready to conquer the running route imbued with the imprint of the frontline islands.
Amidst enthusiastic cheers, groups of athletes from different distances took turns starting, creating a vibrant sports atmosphere on the island.

This year's race track continues to leave a special mark when athletes stride through coastal roads, typical garlic fields, lava mountain slopes and famous landmarks of Ly Son.
Not only is it a sports competition, this is also a journey to experience and explore the natural and cultural beauty of the frontline land of the Fatherland.
Participating in the race in Ly Son for the first time, athlete Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien (from Gia Lai province) said: "My feeling about the race is that on the track, the Organizing Committee receives water very thoughtfully. Because it's hot, the distance between water receiving points is suitable, helping athletes cool down. The track is beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly, this is a worthwhile place to go.
