The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day, the 2025 Red Phuong Flower Festival and the 66th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Cat Ba - Cat Hai.
This is one of the major marathons in the Northern region, attracting the attention of many domestic and foreign athletes.
The route runs through many typical terrains of Cat Ba archipelago, from coastal roads to primeval forests. The tournament is not only an opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves but also helps raise awareness about protecting the Cat Ba World Natural Heritage, recognized by UNESCO in 2023.
The organizing committee aims to create a sports playground combined with tourism promotion, attracting tourists to Cat Ba, while encouraging the development of the local sports tourism model. The organizer said that the race will have three distances including 5km, 10km and 21km, suitable for many groups of athletes from professional athletes to those who love mass running.
The award is for athletes with high achievements including cash, sneakers and resort vouchers in Cat Ba. In addition, some sponsors have committed to supporting free cable car tickets and preferential policies on accommodation and travel for participants.
The event schedule includes two days, starting from March 29, 2025 with a race kit collection activity in Cat Ba town. On March 30, 2025, the distances will start from Cat Ba Tourist Center Square, with a time limit of 75 to 210 minutes depending on each distance. The award ceremony and closing ceremony will take place in the evening of the same day.
