Starting with the flag-raising ceremony at Gac Ma Memorial Site
On the afternoon of March 26, the Organizing Committee of the 67th National Marathon Championship - Tien Phong Newspaper in 2026 said that the race takes place from March 27 - 29 in Khanh Hoa province, belonging to the national high-performance sports competition system.
The event was co-organized by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Sports Administration, Tien Phong Newspaper, Vietnam Athletics Federation and Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The tournament will start with a flag-raising ceremony at the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Area (Cam Lam commune) on the morning of March 28.
According to Mr. Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, with the message "Ten Thousand Miles of Truong Sa - In the Heart of the Fatherland", the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Area was chosen as the location for the flag-raising ceremony, with the meaning of connecting with Truong Sa.
This is not only a ritual but also a connection between sportsmanship and patriotism.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the basic preparation has been completed. The locality plans to welcome about 15,000 athletes and relatives. Currently, more than 31 accommodation establishments have registered to support at preferential prices.
Security and safety assurance work is coordinated and implemented by the police force and related units, with a plan to put safety first.
Running routes have been reviewed and repaired to ensure the best competition conditions. Leaders of local departments and agencies will also participate in the response run.
Welcoming a record number of athletes
According to the Organizing Committee, the 67th Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon recorded a record number of more than 12,000 athletes participating.
The runway in Nha Trang gathers many top national athletes and a large number of amateur runners from home and abroad.
Many typical faces of Vietnamese athletics such as Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Van Lai, Hoang Nguyen Thanh will participate.
Athletes will compete in distances of 42.195km and 21.1km for professional and amateur men and women; 10km for professional men, young men, amateur men, women; 5km for professional women, young women and amateur men, women.
According to the plan, the athletes will start and finish at 2/4 Square (Nha Trang ward), conquering the coastal road through Tran Phu, Cau Da, An Vien, Pham Van Dong routes.
The track has been measured by experts of the Vietnam Athletics Federation using specialized equipment, strictly inspected according to international standards to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Notably, on the track, athletes not only received water but also were energized with local specialty fruits such as bananas, grapes, apples...
In addition to professional value, the tournament also maintains a prize system with a total value of billions of VND for individual and team categories.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, through the event, Khanh Hoa expects to promote the image of a dynamic and friendly destination, contributing to attracting domestic and international tourists.
