Can Tho - CPL-S1 Spa Lan Ngoc - Kien Giang champion lost to Phuc Dao Dien on the opening day of the National 7-a-side Football Championship in the Western region.

On the afternoon of June 8, in Can Tho city, the Saigon Dragon Cup 2025 National 7-a-side Football Tournament (VPL-S6) - Western region officially kicked off. After 3 years of absence, the most attractive 7-a-side football tournament in the West has returned, attracting the attention of many fans coming to the stadium to watch and cheer for the teams.

In this tournament, there are 6 teams competing including: Spa Lan Ngoc - Kien Giang, Loc Phat Phuc - Rosie, Phuc Dao Dien, FPT Polytechnic Can Tho, Xay Dung Phan Kha and Tan Tien Cai Lay.

In the highlight match of the opening day, Spa Lan Ngoc - Kien Giang (CPL-S1 champion) faced Phuc Dao Dien. In the 5th minute, the An Giang representative took the lead thanks to Van Nhut from a free kick. Before the end of the first half, goalkeeper Huu Tuan once again conceded a goal. That was Van Ngoc's precise header right in front of the penalty area, the score was 2-0 for Phuc Dao Dien.

In the second half, coach Huynh Ba Phuc and his team continued to control the game. Phuc Dao Dien's third goal came in the 51st minute, when Hoang Hai brought home another superb free kick. Under pressure from the opponent, Spa Lan Ngoc - Kien Giang was forced to raise their squad to seek scoring opportunities. Those efforts were rewarded in the 51st minute, from a direct free kick, Van Hau fired a shot to shorten the score to 1-3 for Kien Giang team.

However, the mistakes of the defense made coach Huynh Anh Duy and his team pay the price. They had to conceded two consecutive goals when Anh Khoa and Tan Hao put the ball into the net. In the end, Phuc Dao Dien defeated Spa Lan Ngoc - Kien Giang with a score of 5-1, bringing home the first 3 points of this year's season.

In the second match, Loc Phat Phuc - Rosie convincingly defeated FPT Polytechnic Can Tho. Kiem Linh scored a hat-trick, a double from Anh Khoa and goals from Thuan Anh and Huu Thuan helped Loc Phat Phuc - Rosie defeat their opponent with a score of 7-0.
