Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee emphasized that the Southern folk cake festival in Can Tho has become a unique and annual cultural and tourism event of the city and the whole region, contributing to honor, preserve and promote the traditional culinary cultural values of the nation. Not only is the convergence of folk cakes, the festival is also a bridge between artisans, businesses and tourists, promoting tourism and socio -economic development.
The Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee said that in 2025, the 12th Southern Traditional cake Festival, with the theme "Conservation and promotion of Southern Traditional Cakes", will take place from April 4-8, with a scale of more than 230 booths for folk cake space, regional specialties, culinary space; gathering hundreds of artisans from all over the regions, bringing traditional folk cakes, expressing the creativity and quintessence of Southern cuisine.
Within the framework of the Festival, activities take place enthusiastically such as: cake making contest, giant banh xeo performance, introduction of how to make banh chung, ornamental plant contest, night art activities...
The festival is not only an opportunity to honor the traditional bakery profession but also opens up opportunities to connect and promote specialty products to domestic and foreign markets, contributing to making Southern folk cakes a high-value culinary brand, informed the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.
According to the Organizing Committee, at the same time, Can Tho will organize the Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony in 2025 at the Hung Kings Temple in Can Tho City on the morning of April 7 (ie March 10 of the lunar calendar) to encourage all classes of people to return to the national origin, join hands and unite to build their homeland and country to become increasingly rich, prosperous and happy; build an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity.
