On November 22, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, organized the opening ceremony of the 13th National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship.
This is an annual sports event and has become increasingly important after 13 years of organization. This year, the tournament had a large number of participants, with nearly 800 people including referees, coaches, athletes, from 37 clubs in provinces and cities across the country attending. This is the largest number ever recorded at the national championship level of traditional martial arts clubs.
Notably, in this tournament, the Organizing Committee boldly organized outdoor competitions to serve the people and tourists. At the same time, this is the first year, and also the second time, that the National Traditional Martial Arts Tournament has applied the new, revised and supplemented competition rules, bringing many strong and positive changes to the traditional martial art.
In particular, the age limit for fighting and boxing has been raised to 17-40 years old (compared to 18-35 previously); opening 2 new age categories of 41-50 and 51-60 for boxing; applying online competition registration for the first time for clubs participating in the tournament...
In particular, the decision of the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation to introduce a competition format without armor and helmet (participating martial artists must ensure they meet the requirements of class) promises to be a breakthrough, creating a vibrant and bustling atmosphere with 8 competition events in 5 men's weight categories and 3 women's weight categories.
In addition, weight checks, handling of technical errors in competition, and thoroughly handling of hugging errors in combat competitions will be carried out according to the provisions of the new regulations issued in October 2024, which are expected to be a lever for Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts to continue to reach out, constantly develop, contribute to the development of the sports movement and preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
As planned, the 13th National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship in 2024 will take place from November 22 to November 29 at the Revolutionary Traditional House, Vung Tau City.
