On March 27, the Organizing Committee of the 2nd International Youth Student Football Tournament - 2026 THACO Cup said that it had drawn lots to schedule matches for 6 teams.
This year's tournament gathers 6 teams, promising to bring high-quality matches.
Among them, there are 4 international representatives including Svay Rieng University (Cambodia), University of Laos, National University of Malaysia, National University of Singapore and 2 host teams, Thuy Loi University and Nha Trang University.
The teams are assessed as having careful preparation, strong forces, creating high competitiveness.
The draw results put Nha Trang University in Group A with Lao University and National University of Malaysia; Group B includes Thuy Loi University, Svay Rieng University and National University of Singapore. The top two teams in each group will win the right to enter the semi-finals.
According to the organizers, the international representatives all possess remarkable achievements and rich competition experience.
Svay Rieng University (Cambodia), under the guidance of coach Som Chanravuth, once won the national student tournament in 2022 and has participated in regional tournaments many times. This is considered one of the candidates competing for the championship.
University of Laos continues to be a formidable name after winning the runner-up position at the 1st International Student Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup. This team brings a young force, including many players who have played for U.23 Laos, clearly showing their ambition to go far in this year's tournament.
The National University of Malaysia (UKM) is highly appreciated for its systematic development foundation and long track record in the student football system. Meanwhile, the National University of Singapore (NUS) entered the tournament with the status of a champion when it just won a double in major domestic student tournaments.
On the home side, Thuy Loi University is the reigning champion of TNSV THACO Cup 2026, impressing with an attack that scored 14 goals after 6 matches and a defense that has not conceded a goal. Under the guidance of coach Vu Van Trung, this team aims to continue to conquer titles in international playgrounds.
