On 3.4, Hong Bang International University (HIU) welcomed the delegation of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the American International Education Institute (IIE) and senior leaders of 20 American universities, within the framework of the program "Vietnam International Academic Cooperation" (IAPP Vietnam), on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing Vietnam -US diplomatic relations.
Ms. Sammer Saleh Jones - Head of IIE Delegation, Director of Global Relations, Illinois University Urbana-Champaign - said that the goal of the visit is not only to meet, but also to share, listen and create new educational values together in the context of globalization.
"We have prepared very carefully for this trip. This is not simply a working session, but a valuable opportunity to connect, learn and accompany Vietnamese partners in long-term, sustainable cooperation, said Ms. Sammer Saleh Jones.
Ms. Lisa Pawloski - Senior Vice Principal in charge of the International Program, Finance and Administration, University of Alabama - especially appreciated the ideas related to community cohesion, an important part of students' international learning experience.
At the University of Alabama, we require students to participate in hands-on experiential activities, including observation and practice, especially in the medical community. If HIU can provide internship and observation opportunities in international medicine, it will be a great thing for our students.
Ms. Roumy Theunissen - Director of Communications and Global Relations, University of Washington in St. Petersburg. Louis (WashU) - shared about two expanding international academic cooperation opportunities, which are: Global Incubator Seed Grant Program and Distinguished International Visiting Scholars Program.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Khac Cuong - Vice Principal of HIU - said that he will commit to building practical, long-term cooperation models with American universities, especially in training high-quality human resources and applied research.
"This is a strategic step for HIU to integrate more deeply into the global academic network," Associate Professor, Dr. Le Khac Cuong shared.
The meeting also proposed strategic cooperation directions between HIU and American universities such as:
Bilateral training linkage: Build 4+2 (doctor), 4+1 (pharmacist) and 3+1 (nursing) interconnection models, helping students access international degrees and expand global learning opportunities.
Academic and student exchanges: Increase lecturer and student exchanges, organize international conferences and seminars.
Medical technology research: Cooperate in joint research projects on health and develop new medical technology.
Community activities: Participating in grassroots health projects, supporting the disadvantaged and educating on disease prevention; supporting startup projects for students.
Cooperate in training high-quality human resources: Coordinate with US corporations to build training programs suitable to the needs of the international labor market.
