Dong Thap sets a target of 95% of students being trained in entrepreneurship skills

Dong Thap - The province aims to have 95% of students trained in entrepreneurship skills by 2035.

On June 30, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan signed and issued a Plan to implement the Program "Supporting students to start businesses in the period 2026 - 2035" in the province. The program aims to build a startup culture in schools, promote innovation and strengthen connections between schools and businesses and investors.

According to the plan, by the period 2031-2035, the province strives for 95% of students to complete their modules or participate in at least one startup skills course. At the same time, the number of new startup students will reach at least 100 out of 10,000 full-time students each year, especially key training institutions will reach at least 150 out of 10,000 students.

For general education, Dong Thap sets a target that by 2035, 65% of high school students, 35% of secondary school students and 20% of primary school students will be oriented towards starting a business; 50% of high school students will be equipped with knowledge, skills and entrepreneurial thinking. On average, each year, at least 8% of high school students and 3% of secondary school students participate in startup projects or activities.

The plan also aims to expand project incubation activities in training institutions; each year, at least 4 start-up projects of teachers and learners are invested or connected with capital sources, of which at least 50% of projects have female participants. In parallel, infrastructure investment, digital platform development, strengthening links with businesses, investment funds and experts to complete the start-up ecosystem in the education sector.

The Department of Education and Training is assigned to take the lead in implementing the plan; coordinate with departments, branches, localities and educational institutions to organize implementation, periodically evaluate results, and at the same time advise on promulgating policies to support teachers and learners to start businesses in the province.
