On the afternoon of October 8, within the framework of the Workshop "Connecting, training, sharing experiences of ASEAN Eco-Schools - plastic- Wasteless Schools" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, delegates had a field trip to Viet My School for the Gifted (Can Tho City).
Viet My High School is the honored school to win the First Prize "ASEAN Eco-School in 2024", a typical model of the plastic-free school movement. This is not just a title, but the efforts and commitment of the school in bringing the spirit of "green living" into activities.

During the tour, delegates explored the school's inspiring journey through the clip "Vietnam - plastic- Wasteless School: From commitment to action". At the same time, they can experience the learning space, recycling gardens and environmental projects built by the school's teachers and students.

At Viet My School for the Gifted, students not only learn how to protect the environment in books, but also actively participate in attractive extracurricular activities.
To demonstrate their creativity, a group of students presented an interesting STEM activity with the theme: "Paper bags against absorption from banana peels". Thereby, it shows that from seemingly useless things, we can also create sustainable and meaningful values.

Through this exchange and learning of "green decisions" in environmental management and education, many cadres and teachers said that they have achieved connection and accumulated many valuable experiences. From there, gradually implement and replicate the ASEAN Eco-School model in its own school.
In particular, many opinions emphasized that for the model to be sustainable, there needs to be close coordination between families and schools. Adults must accompany children to form habits and widely spread the spirit of environmental protection.

On behalf of the Selection Council, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc said that the most effective environmental education methods come from experiential methods and behavioral interventions.
Therefore, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc calls on schools to focus on creating a plastic-free culture in each activity, taking advantage of the ability of the young generation to absorb and spread changes to improve the learning environment, improve health and connect the locality.
The workshop "Connecting, training, sharing experiences of ASEAN Eco-Schools - plastic- Wasteless Schools" was held within the framework of the ASEAN Eco-Schools Vietnam 2025. The event aims to introduce and guide schools to apply the ASEAN Eco-Schools Criteria to teaching, management and extracurricular activities.
