Within the framework of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, Director - Dr. Nguyen Hong Quan - Faculty of Cinema Arts, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema - gave a speech on the topic of international cooperation experience in film training from the past to the present and the future.
According to director Nguyen Hong Quan, in the journey to build a modern cinema, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema has played a pioneering role in expanding international cooperation, not only to improve training quality but also actively contribute to the integration of Vietnam's creative industry.
Since its early years, especially in 1979-1990, the school has clearly identified the importance of cooperation with countries with developed film industries. The connection with the Soviet Union (now Russia) or later the European countries, the US, and the South, has contributed to the formation of the first generation of directors and filmmakers in Vietnam, building a team of core lecturers and laying the foundation for international teaching programs.

In 1991, the school officially became a member of CILECT - the International Association of Film and Television Schools. This event opens a big door to access modern training trends, while connecting with a network of more than 180 prestigious film schools worldwide.
This also creates the premise for effective cooperation activities afterwards, such as with Munich School of Cinema and Television (Germany), North Carolina Wilmington University (USA), INSAS Institute of Performing Arts ( Belgium), Dong-Ah Academy (Korea), or VGIK National Film Institute (Russia).
In particular, the cooperation program between SKDAA and INSAS (belgium) since 2010 has been considered one of the most effective models, with a series of workshops, practical classes, short film production, field trips... bringing practical experience, approaching professional processes for students.

Many works in these courses have won prizes in competitions and been selected to screen at international film festivals, typically "A World Goes Home" by student Pham Thi Ha Trang, or "Tan Nuoc" by student Pham Thanh Dat - a film that won prizes at the Hanoi International Film Festival 2022 and was chosen by Netflix to be released...
According to Mr. Quan, since 2016, many teaching programs have been standardized according to the international lecturer-student model, creating a closed system where students can both study theory and practice projects from the first year.
In the context of globalization, international cooperation is no longer an option, but a mandatory requirement for a modern art education. With a built foundation, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema is expected to continue to be the "gateway to the world" for the future generation of Vietnamese artists and filmmakers.
