More than 26,000 parents signed a commitment not to give vehicles to students who are not qualified to drive.
At the same time, Thuy Nguyen District Police discovered and handled 153 cases of student violations, fined over 150 million VND, temporarily detained 49 vehicles, and sent a list to the City Police Traffic Police Department to discuss with the Department of Education and Training about cases of student violations at schools for coordination in management and education.
In addition, Thuy Nguyen District Police have verified and handled 18 cases of parents handing over vehicles to unqualified drivers.
According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Cuong - Deputy Head of Thuy Nguyen District Police, during the peak period of ensuring traffic safety and order for school-age children, as of October 26, there were no traffic accidents involving school-age children in the district.
Previously, by October 15, the Traffic Police force of the City Public Security had recorded and handled 1,913 cases of traffic violations by students. In the first 15 days of the peak period, the units temporarily detained 267 motorbikes and 766 other vehicles related to student violations such as driving motorbikes and mopeds when not meeting age requirements (273 cases), not wearing helmets (1,239 cases), and not obeying traffic signals.
Authorities also drew up records to handle 86 citizens who handed over vehicles or allowed unqualified people to drive motorbikes and mopeds on the road.
