On the afternoon of October 19, the first VTV LPBank International Marathon, called "Cat Ba Sunset Colors 2024", took place in Cat Ba archipelago, Hai Phong city, organized by Vietnam Television in coordination with Hai Phong City People's Committee, Hai Phong Department of Culture - Sports, Loc Phat Vietnam Bank (LPBank), Thanh An Media Joint Stock Company.
This is a large-scale sporting event, attracting 3,600 professional and amateur athletes from 8 countries and territories (Vietnam, Kenya, China, England, France, Argentina, Japan, Taiwan - China) to participate in the tournament with 3 distances of 5km, 10km and 21km.
With a beautiful coastal route, romantic sunset views and a vibrant atmosphere, the race will bring athletes unforgettable experiences. The organizers hope that this will be an opportunity for the runners community to express their spirit of protecting the value of Cat Ba World Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO, each runner will be an ambassador, promoting the image of Cat Ba to domestic and international friends.
Through the event, the organizers hope to build a series of large-scale, prestigious and quality annual running races for the community of running enthusiasts in Vietnam. Thereby promoting tourism, culture and boosting the economy of the host locality in particular and Vietnam in general.
At the event, athletes will be immersed in a world of music and colorful festivals with music and color stations arranged along the running route, explosive music stages and exciting beer festivals at the finish line.
At the same time, at the race, the organizing committee awarded medals and many prizes with a total value of up to 500 million VND to athletes with high achievements.
The event was held right before Vietnamese Women's Day October 20 as a tribute to women on this meaningful anniversary.
With the hope that the race will have a noble humanitarian meaning, each bib sold will be donated by the organizers to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cat Hai district to support Cat Ba archipelago to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3. At the same time, for each kilometer run by the athlete, Loc Phat Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank) will support 10,000 VND.
