Minister of Education and Training (MOET) Hoang Minh Son has just signed a decision appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Truong - Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Mining and Geology to hold the position of Rector of the school, with a term of 5 years.
The decision is made to consolidate the leadership team of higher education institutions in the renovation period in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW; and at the same time ensure stability, inheritance and development in the direction of renovating the public university governance model according to the provisions of the Law on Higher Education (amended) in 2025.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Truong was born in 1975, in Hoang An commune, Phu Tho province. He is a former student of Geological Surveying at the University of Mining and Geology, course 1993 - 1998.
After graduating, he stayed to work at the school as a lecturer, continuing to complete his master's program at the University of Mining and Geology and then studied, successfully defending his doctoral thesis in Earth, Space and Environment Science at Université Grenoble Alpes - France.
Before being appointed as Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Truong has held many important management and leadership positions such as: Deputy Head of Department, Head of Department, Vice Rector, Chairman of the University Council and Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Mining and Geology.
Along with the Decision to appoint the Principal, the Minister of Education and Training also signed decisions to appoint the Vice Principal of the school with: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Vinh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trieu Hung Truong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh.
