In recent years, Thuy Lan carpentry village, Viet Yen commune, has actively applied technology and digital transformation in production and business, helping to preserve and develop traditional crafts. The whole village currently has more than 200 households with about 500 regular workers, with an average income of 8 - 15 million VND/person/month. Key products such as tables, chairs, beds, cabinets, hangers, etc. are widely consumed in and outside the province, bringing in tens of billions of VND per year, with an estimated total income of about 150 billion VND/year, contributing significantly to the local economy.
Previously, production was mainly done by hand, requiring a lot of effort. Now many households have invested in large-capacity saws, wood saws, computer accumulators and design software, improved productivity, diversified designs, met large orders and market demand.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Phong - Head of the Craft Village Association - said: "Digital transformation helps craft villages change strongly. Bringing products to e-commerce platforms and online platforms saves time and costs, while promoting the brand and expanding the market, enhancing product value.
Viet Yen commune has determined to continue to coordinate with sectors to support craft villages in accessing preferential capital, applying high technology, building brands, and combining production development with experiential tourism.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee - emphasized: "The commune government always accompanies and creates favorable conditions on mechanisms, policies, support for loans, technical training and technology transfer. Digital transformation opens up opportunities for widespread product promotion, attracting customers from many localities, and at the same time, the Industrial Cluster of Craft villages will soon be put into operation, helping to expand production, overcome environmental pollution and increase people's income."
With the efforts of the people and the support of the government, Thuy Lan carpentry village is affirming its position, becoming a bright spot in the development of the craft village economy associated with digital transformation in Viet Yen.
