Creating space for young people to start businesses
On October 24, in Lien Son Lak commune (Dak Lak), the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in coordination with the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union organized an exhibition to promote startup products and a seminar on "Ethnic minority youth start-ups, economic development in the technology era".
The exhibition displays 50 booths with hundreds of typical products of the Central Highlands ethnic minority youth. The products not only bear the local mark but also show innovation in the business thinking of young people - "startups" with the aspiration to rise with the values of the homeland.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Canh Chi Quan - Deputy Head of the Central Youth Union's Youth and Children's Affairs Committee - emphasized that supporting ethnic minority youth to start a business is a strategic task in the socio-economic development of mountainous areas.
This is also an activity within the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas in 2025, implemented in three regions: Northwest, Southwest and Central Highlands.
"Starting a business is not only about opening a store or producing a product, but is a journey to form a dream, affirming your courage and responsibility for your homeland and country. In particular, ethnic minority youth also carry the mission of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, bringing hometown products to domestic and international markets, said Mr. Canh Chi Quan.
In recent years, the Central Youth Union has implemented many accompanying programs with young entrepreneurs such as the National Startup Youth Forum, Startup Consulting Festival or Rural Youth Startup Project Contest.
From these activities, thousands of young people in remote areas have been supported to access capital, apply new technologies, build brands and expand markets, and gradually create a stable life.
At the seminar program, many enthusiastic opinions were shared. Mr. Y Phi On Mlo - Deputy Secretary of the Military Youth Union of Krong Nang Commune - expressed his hope that all levels and sectors will create more favorable conditions for young people in remote areas to access policies and start-up capital. In the early stages, most models were small, requiring clear companionship and orientation to develop sustainably, he said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tu - Deputy Secretary of the Tan Son Village Youth Union (Hoa Son Commune) - was concerned about the fear of starting a business of young people. According to him, many students have good ideas but lack confidence and fear of failure, making their " started-up dream" always on paper.
Supporting young people to start a business
From a business perspective, Mr. Tran Trieu Nha - Permanent Vice President of the Dak Lak Young Entrepreneurs Association - encouraged: "The digital age brings countless opportunities. dare to step out of your comfort zone, do not be afraid of making mistakes, because each time you stumble is a valuable lesson.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - digital content creator - shared that the journey to build a TikTok channel to promote indigenous culture. At times, she recorded nearly 200 times for a short clip but still persevered because "cyber space is a fair game, where everyone can spread value if they are sincere and efforts enough".
From a management perspective, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Bich - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Dak Lak province - said that the National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025 have opened up many opportunities to help ethnic minority youth rise up to master the economy.
We will coordinate with the Provincial Youth Union to implement the movement Creative Youth, Establish a Business, Start a Business Effectively, helping young people turn ideas into reality, said Ms. Thanh Bich.
Mr. Y Le Paspor - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union - said that the Provincial Youth Union is building a favorable startup environment for ethnic minority youth through capital support, skills training, technology transfer and market expansion.
"We will promote digital communication, guide young people to use online platforms, and promote products. At the same time, form a startup community for everyone to learn, connect and develop together, Mr. Y Le Pas Tor emphasized.
